paintings 2016-2006

This selection of paintings depicts architecture and space assembled from observed, remembered and invented structures and details. My process of constructing compositions and using layers of transparent and opaque paint often mirrors the sense of accumulation and decay I respond to in the buildings themselves; an accretion, mutation and morphing of architectural style and detail veiled by a palimpsest of marks, textures and colors. Animated by sense of material and human presence cycling through states of creation and dissolution, these structures and spaces contain evidence and remnants of lives within, suggesting elusive and furtive narratives.
